One day I awoke…

From the days of yore when I fancied myself a troubadour…

One day I awoke
and the Sun was reaching for the sky
and it stopped when I opened my eyes
wondering, “How could anything so far
so brightly glow from down below?!”

What the Sun didn’t know as he sent down the beams
to spy in my window (la-la-la-la-la)
was all of my fires are lighted in dreams
of you (la-hoo-hoo!)
when you call me to
to you… call me…

“Come down and lay with me baby!
Come hear my body laugh, crying a song of life!
Come here and see
what treasure what pleasure is…
lying with me!”

And the next thing I know
was the Sun, still wondering why,
sent a ray to come down and spy —
mingling with the single ever brightly
burning eye that had become a light.

But the Sun didn’t know…
But the Sun didn’t know…

that there is an alien affliction that haunts me,
blows through my window, fells me, a tree!
It governs my motives and tortures and taunts me
and looks just like you…
and smells just like you…
when you call me…

“Come down and lay with me baby!
Come hear my body laugh, crying a song of life!
Come here and see
what treasure what pleasure is…
lying in me!”

“Come down and lay with me baby!
Come hear my body laugh, crying a song of life!
Come here and see
what treasure what pleasure
is lying in me!”

And everyday since then
the Sun, enamored of my eyes,
is content no more in the skies
hovering like a lover in despair
delighted just to stare
just to be there…

Jealous of you and your mortal perfection
the light of my eyes are only for you
who opened the door to somnolent affection
when you called me to…
to you called me to…
you called me…

“Come down and lay with me baby!
Come hear my body laugh, crying a song of life!
Come here and see
what treasure what pleasure
is lying in me!”

“Come down and lay with me baby!
Come hear my body laugh, crying a song of life!
Come here and see
what treasure what pleasure
is lying in you and me!”
